Monday, Monday

Another weekend has passed WAY too quickly and we are at the beginning of another week. Our weekend was pretty uneventful which was nice. We just relaxed around the house and did the normal chores. I know it's not Tuesday but I feel like doing another ten...

1. Today is the last day of January and I can't believe it. January normally seems like the longest month but this year, it just flew by. I love the fact that spring seems like it is just around the corner. Especially since Jacks and I will be gone 6 days in February!
2. I mentioned the other day that BJ and I have been playing Yahtzee at night for fun. Well, the other night after a couple of games, we decided to tally up all of our wins and losses. Believe it or not, we were tied 27-27. I then proceeded to lose two games so I now have some ground to make up!
3. When I picked up Jackson today at Deanne's, I was told he bit another kid AGAIN. :( It totally bummed me out because we don't know why he is doing it. It does seem to coincide with him teething so I don't know if that is a contributing factor. The whole weekend he chewed on his fingers... I just wish his last two molars would hurry up and come in.  Note what he is doing in the picture below...

4. Jackson and I Skyped with Grandma and Grandpa Terry yesterday! Was a very interesting and neat experience. I'm not sure Jackson knew what to think about it but I thought it was pretty cool. :)
5. The reason I'm writing this blog entry tonight is because women's league volleyball starts tomorrow night! Yay! Can't wait to play again with all the girls. This will be the third year that we will have the same team and the best part is, there will be two divisions this year. So every night will be competitive... doesn't get any better than that!
6. I signed up for a Momtography class that is being put on by our family photographer. It is not until March but I already can't wait to learn more about how to better utilize our awesome camera!
7. Jackson and I came home to the best surprise tonight.... BJ had cooked dinner for us (well me since Jackson won't eat spaghetti)! It made my night! He was all worried I wouldn't be hungry - heck, I didn't care if I was hungry or not. Food always tastes so good when someone else cooks it for you!
8. I have officially started our 2010 family Shutterfly book! Right now I'm on the month of April. That's not bad right? Only 8 months left. :) My goal is to finish before February is over. After looking at all of our pictures, I was in awe of how much Jackson has grown in a year. Time goes by so fast. :(
9. Jackson has just started to say I love you back to us when we say it to him. Last night when I tucked him in, I said "I love you Jackson" and he said "Love you Mama." Man, it melted my heart.
10. This last weekend, we bought Jackson a soothing sound machine for his room to hopefully drown out the sounds Hunter makes in the mornings. So far, so good! It has helped him stay asleep in the mornings which is nice. I wasn't sure if he'd like it but for now, he doesn't seem to mind. Why didn't we buy one sooner?! :)

Saturday Night Fun

The last two weekends we've been supporting the Cashmere local economy! Last weekend, we drove out to eat Country Boys BBQ and last night, we thought it would be fun to head out to Brian's Pizza for some dinner and bowling! We quickly found out that bowling is a popular activity in Cashmere on a Saturday night and since we didn't know that we could call to reserve lanes, they were all full. :( So we decided to eat pizza and make use of their arcade games! BJ and Jackson spent most of the night shooting hoops... we are now wondering if we will have a hoop player on our hands. Jackson also liked the car racing game as long as his Dad wasn't shooting hoops!

On our way out to Cashmere, Jackson said something funny that I have to write about. We were at a stoplight and there was a Link bus to the right of us. It was decorated with a big Mountain Dew decal that included a picture of a one liter pop. Jackson points to it and says "juice" and then says "da-da's juice."  BJ and I got a good chuckle out of it. :)

Bath Time

Tonight during his bath, Jackson surprised me with a new word. :) I had no idea he knew the word empty or what it meant. He was playing with the cup I use to rinse his hair - he would fill it up and then dump it out followed by "empty." Unfortunately I didn't have my cell phone when he first started to do it because he was so funny (I think he was pretty proud of himself for knowing the word). I had BJ grab my phone but by then, I could barely get him to say it anymore. Anyway, I tried to get him saying on video. He would only say it once for us...

Tuesday Ten

The gal that has taken our family the pictures the past few years has a blog and she sometimes writes a Tuesday ten.  Meaning... she writes ten things that are currenlty going on with their lives/family.  I think it is a fun idea especially when there isn't one topic big enough to write about.  So, tonight I'm going to try it out.  Here is my first ten...

1. Yesterday, MLK Day = Dad and Jackson day.  I unfortunately didn't get the day off so I was stuck working. :(  It was hard to drag myself to work when my two favorite boys were hanging out at home.  My favorite part of the whole day was coming home and hearing about their day. BJ was so proud to tell me what he had fed Jackson which included PB&J and apples for lunch.  :)  Love them!
2. It was crazy warm here yesterday (56 degrees) and it felt great.  The sun was beaming and I could go outside without my coat.  It was very short lived though because today was back to being cold.  Well 40 degrees... somehow that felt like 10 after being so warm.  It's amazing how fast we adapt.
3. Jackson is still working on his two year molars. :(  I'm not sure if that was why he was so whiny tonight but man he was in a bad mood.  I was able to sneak a peak when I was brushing his teeth and his bottom two are in but no sign of the top ones.  Ahhh, teething is the worst.
4. I'm still in love with my iPad but my blogging app won't post pictures.  Grrrr.... I need to figure out why because it is so convenient and fast.  Sometimes I wish I were more technical.
5. The gym is currently kicking my butt.  One of my new year's resolutions was to get back in the gym... not to lose weight but to tone myself.  Well, when you haven't lifted for a couple years and then you start back up, it hurts.  I just now can walk normal after my Saturday morning workout.  At least I know I am working the right muscles. :)
6. Only 29 more days until Jackson and I are on a plane to Palm Desert to see my parents.! Yay... can't wait to see them and soak up some sun.  I just have to not think about the fact that I am traveling with Jackson by myself.  I don't want to have a nervous breakdown just yet.  At least, we are meeting up with my sister and her boyfriend in Seattle.
7. BJ and I have been playing Yatzee at night after Jackson goes to bed and it is tons of fun.  I know, a little nerdy but we have a blast.  We aren't big TV watchers (other than Grey's and sports) so it is a good alternative for us.
8. I've had a headache off and on today and it makes me thankful how great I feel most days.  I'm hoping a good nights rest will help.  It's been a busy week already and I'm feeling a little exhausted.
9. I was driving today (to get my hair done :) thanks Carlee) and I started thinking about how having Jackson has changed every facet of our lives.  And the best part is, I feel like all of it has been for the better.  I personally feel like he has made me a better person.  I just never imagined I could love a little human being so much.  I am extrememly thankful that we were able to have him.  I don't know what life would be like without him.
10.  Wow, I made it to ten.  Well kind of... I am out of things to write.  With that, I will leave you a picture of my favorite little guy. :)

Birthday Fun

On Saturday, Jackson attended a birthday party for Samantha, one of his daycare buddies.  She turned five this year and they had her birthday at SPORT Gymnastics in Wenatchee.  What a great idea!!  The kids could run wild with little supervision (well... ours still needed a little supervision).  There were too many things to jump off of for my comfort level. :)

Anyway, Jackson started off a little timid but quickly warmed up and was trying new things.  He had such a great time and didn't want to leave.  So... I think we will be exploring their open gyms in the future.  :)  Here are some pictures to show the fun time had by all.

Playing on the fish rocker - this was his comfort level at first
And shooting hoops... we have this hoop at home
Deciding whether or not to climb through with his buddy Jackson Dodd
 And he's off!

Trying to be bigger than he is
 Sliding with his buddies
 Running... he never slowed down
Birthday girl Samantha (notice her shirt has a #5 on it) :)
Taking a break to catch his breath
Trying to get up the courage to go on the trampoline
Deanne helping him out (always more effective if Mom doesn't try to help)
Running on the trampoline (he wouldn't jump)!  Maybe next time :)
Waiting for cake with Jackson Dodd although he wouldn't eat any... whose kid is this?
 Happy Birthday Sam!!
All that partying wears one out

We Stand Corrected...

In my last post, I wrote that BJ and I were talking about how it was a new decade. Well, we realized a minute ago that 2010 was a new decade! So we stand corrected. Ha ha!

Happy New Year!

Here's to leaving 2010 behind and starting fresh in 2011! BJ and I were talking today and realized not only is it a new year, it's a new decade. There is something rejuvenating about beginning a new year and I love the feeling. I have more energy today then I have felt in a while and I didn't even get much sleep last night! I think it might have something to do with one of my resolutions - stop sweating the small stuff. Let go of the things that are out of my control. I have spent way too much time lately worrying about how my plans in life aren't going exactly as planned. I'm done with it... I'm focusing on what is happy in my life right now. Or at least I'm going to try!

So on another happy note, I'm really enjoying my second four day weekend in a row. I had so much fun spending the day with just Jackson on Thursday. He is so much fun lately... new words are flowing daily and I love hearing what he has to say. On Thursday, we played with Play-doh in the morning. Well I guess you could call it playing... I thought we should build things and Jackson just wanted to empty the containers and then put the Play-doh back in them! It was fun to watch him and after a while I just let him play while I cleaned the kitchen.
So many colors to choose from!
Thinking about what to do with the Play-doh
So happy to have his picture taken (as usual)!
