Why?

And so it begins.... last Tuesday night, Mom, Jackson and I were walking out of BJ's softball game and I told Jackson "Time to go home, Daddy's game is over." He looked at me and responded with "Why?"

I have to admit it brought a smile to my face.  I know it will get old soon (I've already been asked multiple times today) but to me it was another milestone reached.  And I love the fact that his little mind is curious and wants to learn.  It even makes him seem more grown up because it makes our conversations more interactive.  So now I have to be on top of game and always ready for an answer to the question "why?"!!

Davenport Camping Trip

I'm a little past due with this blog post but that is what happens when the whole family has a nasty cold and sleep is more important than anything else! Last weekend, we headed over towards Davenport to camp where BJ hunts every year. We met up with two VanLith families... Mike and Miel and Tommy and Carrie. We pulled the trailer and we also borrowed Papa's four wheeler so we could see the land BJ hunts. The weather ended up being a bust (it rained all day Saturday) and Jackson came down with the nasty cold/cough but we still managed to have fun! Saturday morning we drove up to the land and rode the four wheeler for two hours. Jackson was asleep within five minutes but he managed to wake up just before we saw a deer that ran right in front of us. It was fun to see how cool he thought it was and now I can't wait to go back. Maybe next time the weather will cooperate and we won't get sick. :)

If you look close, there are three hawks in the tree
We had to get a picture of Jackson passed out on the four wheeler

And I had to get a picture of Jackson's shoes... he's decided that he needs to be the one to put them on and this is what they end up looking like :) at least they aren't backwards this time

Last She-bang

Well, today kicked off my last year in my twenties!  I could really care less about thirty approaching... after all, you're only as old as you think you are, right?  And how could I not have a good day with this little guy around.  :)

He and BJ got me a new pair of my favorite Alpaca slippers (they are so comfy) and Jackson was so proud to bring me my present this morning along with a "Happy Birthday Mama".  Those boys know how to make me smile.

Fun Weekend

Whew... what a fun, busy, tiring weekend!  It started out great with BJ's sister volunteering to watch Jackson Friday night so we could grab a quick dinner together.  What a treat (thanks Aunt Angel)!  Then Saturday morning, we went to a petting zoo at ACE Hardware.  It was a fundraiser for a local 4-H club and we knew Jackson would love the animals.  His favorite were the little goats. :)  After the petting zoo, Jackson and I headed up to Chelan to visit G&G Terry and meet their new puppy Rosie.  She was so cute and she loved having someone her size around. :)  And of course, it was fun to visit G&G (the whole way up to Chelan I had to listen to Jackson say "I want to see Grandma and Grandpa").  He still doesn't understand that they don't just live around the corner.

After our visit to Chelan, Jacks and I headed home to catch some of BJ's softball game at 6pm.  Jackson did great especially because he didn't have his usual nap.  I took him home after the first game because it was bedtime and a babysitter came over so I could go back and watch the remaining games.  It ended up being a little windy but was fun to watch like old times.  :)  And since we had a babysitter, we were able to grab dinner/drinks after the games with friends.

Today was warm, so Jackson and I only went to one softball game and then came home to play.  I was ok with that as it was good to relax.  Overall, it was such a fun weekend but I'm exhausted!

The goats liked BJ a lot too

Picnic

Since Jackson goes to a daycare that has all teacher's kids (except me), they always have an end of year picnic on the last day of school since it is the last day they are all together until fall. The Moms are asked to pack a sack lunch and Deanne provides dessert and a drink.  So yesterday morning, I packed up Jackson's lunch and put it in the only lunch pail we have.  It's a PUD lunch pail so I was feeling kind of bad that I didn't have a fun kid friendly one.  Well Jackson didn't care because it just so happens the PUD logo has a horse in it. PERFECT! He thought the horse was great and now knows that when you pack a lunch, it means you are going on a picnic. :)

So proud to be carrying a lunch pail - he carried it out of our house, in the car and into Deanne's house :)

Another First

And this one I'm not so excited about... I was just telling co-workers that Jackson had never thrown up. BIG mistake. I got a text from Deanne at 3:30 on Thursday saying Jackson had just thrown up his snack. He was still full of energy so we weren't sure what was going on. Well... he had diarrhea three times that night and ended up throwing up again at midnight all over himself. :( Poor thing. It was not a fun cleanup. Lots of laundry was done on Friday.

So now we can no longer say he hasn't thrown up. It was bound to happen sometime and actually, I'm surprised he lasted this long. I stayed home with him on Friday and we watched movies, played outside and mowed the yard (per Jackson's request). He didn't eat or drink much all day... just a couple crackers and a granola bar. I think we are on the mend though as he ate a full plate of pancakes Saturday morning and was FULL on energy the rest of the day.  It's amazing how fast kids bounce back.
